Okay, I know what you're thinking.  "Isn't DIY so 1990s?" Well, yes, it is. I'm an avid DIY-er as I've said before. Yes, the clothes they sell at Hot Topic are so cute and cool and they have all the matching accessories and everything else your average goth/punk/alternative person needs. That's just it, though. EVERYONE has it. Anybody can walk into a store and buy a skirt, or a corset, or a kawaii little plush doll, but its expensive, and rarely does anything fit 'just right.' Plus, it's turning the underground scene that so many of us love so much into a stereotype, and a fashion hype. You can't be expressive, and truly unique if you're wearing the same exact outfit at 15 other people at the same concert, and isn't individuality the whole reason behind the 'goth,' 'punk,' and any other alternative style? So, let's go back to the '90s and decommercialise our closets, our bedrooms, and out lives.
